Carroll M. Osburn , age 91 of Ashtabula, Ohio, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2015 in Mentor, Ohio. Born on May 10th, 1924 in Kingsville, Ohio, He was the son of the late Glen and Wavelette Osburn. A graduate of Kingsville High School in 1942, he lived in the Ashtabula area all of his life.
Carroll was an independent insurance agent in the local area for 43 years, where he had served on the board for Sandy and Beaver Insurance located in the Lisbon area. He was also employed at Union Carbide and for SCM as a shift engineer where in retired in 1987.
He had many hobbies which included gardening, collecting and restoring antique tractors, woodworking, and traveling the world with his beloved wife, Patty. Carroll was a member and Past Master of Orion Lodge #353 F&AM for 65 years, serving as Grand Marshall for Sheffield Star Grange and , and a member and past president of the Ashtabula County Scottish Rite and a life member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Ashtabula as well, where he had served as a deacon at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Nielsen Kendall) who he married on June 22, 1974, his sisters, Violet Fuller and Donna Kauffman from Conneaut and his brother Glen (Nancy) Osburn from Ashtabula, three step children Debbie (Dale) Snyder of Concord, Kathy Hunt of Boardman, and Rick Kendall of Williamsburg, Virginia, eight grandchildren, Geoff Snyder, Lindsay Snyder Crosby, Carly Snyder, Matthew Jaskela, Megan Burkhardt Elder, Mackenzie Burkhardt, Natalie Kendall, and Jamie Kendall and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law John Hunt.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30th at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect , Ashtabula, Ohio. Calling hours will be at 10:00 am with services following at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Doug Wright of the First Baptist Church officiating. Internment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in North Kingsville, Ohio immediately following the services.
