Robert “Bob” K. Weisdack, 70, went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2021. He passed away at the Cleveland Clinic following a three-week battle with COVID.
He was born on July 27, 1951, and grew up in Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania, the son of Edward and June (Pickford) Weisdack.
Bob married the love of his life, Carolyn E. Rieck on April 24, 1976, together they shared over forty-five wonderful years together.
Bob attended Fairmont State University, West Virginia University and Pitt University where he received three different master’s degrees. Bob worked for the Geauga County Health Department for 30 years from 1986-2016; he was the Health Commissioner for 19 years as well as a past epidemiologist, registered sanitarian, and administrator.
Bob had many interests and hobbies; during his time at Fairmont State University, he was a competitive gymnast and served as a gymnastics instructor; and later in life he enjoyed teaching at Vacation Bible School and Junior Church, where the children knew him as “Uncle Bob” because he treated each of them as if they were family. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and especially escaping with family to his cabin in West Virginia where they could spend quality time together around the campfire.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, his beloved children: Gail (Rick) Confer, Jennifer (Len) Powell and Bobbi (Curt) Huber; his siblings, Edward (Rose) Weisdack and Norma Jean (Robert) Duvall; his eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren to whom he was known as “Pop Pop”.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scott Weisdack.
For those who would like to pay their respects, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7th, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Fleming and Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio.
