Rebecca A. (Hardie) Marinchak

Rebecca A Marinchak (Hardie), 71, passed away on May 21st, 2022. Rebecca, better known as Becky, was born in Akron, at a young age her family moved and she spent her formative years growing up in Michigan where she graduated from Warren High School in 1968.   Upon graduation she decided to move back to the Buckeye state to attend college at Kent State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 1972. While there, she met her future husband, Brad.  

Married just shy of 50 years, she often said she deserved a medal for being married for so long.  Although she had a few different jobs after graduating from Kent State, she spent 27 years working for the Buckeye Local School System in various positions before retiring as the EMS coordinator in 2015. In retirement, she spent her time cruising around the Caribbean every spring when the weather in Jefferson got too cold and snowy.  When she wasn’t cruising, she would drag her husband, whom she lovingly called “bag boy”, to various antique stores, auctions and on shopping expeditions. But her favorite hobby was, undoubtedly, spoiling her five grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Brad, and their two daughters: Kimberly (Brion) Mimnaugh, the oldest, and Darcy (the one who gave her all her gray hair) Kuhlenbeck, her sister Cindy (Paul) Keating, and five grandchildren: Reghis, Mikayla, Sophia, Tyler and Isabel.

She is preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Hardie.

Calling hours will be from 6pm to 7:30pm on Thursday, May 26th at the Fleming and Billman Funeral Home at 49 W Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio. Services will be at 11:30 am, on Friday, May 27th at Fleming and Billman Funeral Home followed by a graveside service and Oakwood Cemetery.
