Marilyn Weir Obituary

Marilyn R. Weir, age 90, formerly of Jefferson, died Saturday afternoon at the Brunswick Pointe Transitional Care Facility in Brunswick.

She was born April 22, 1930 in Geneva, the daughter of Marion & Dorothy (Inman) Johnson.  On February 4, 1950, she married Gerald E. Weir in the Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula.  Together they owned and operated Weir’s Florist in Jefferson from 1968-1974.

Marilyn was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church for many years.  She also was a member of the Jefferson Garden Club, the Jefferson Historical Society, the Lakeshore Artist Guild, Hickory Nuts Golf League, Roaming Shore Ladies Golf League and the Wednesday Ladies Bowling League in Jefferson.  Marilyn was a talented florist and artist and painted many portraits throughout her lifetime.

Marilyn was very proud of her children’s accomplishments and enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She especially enjoyed traveling with Gerald to various Golf Schools and taking cruises with him to Hawaii and Alaska.

Survivors include children, Dalene (James) Becka, David (Donna) Weir, Daniel (Karen) Weir & Dale (Dori) Weir; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald in 2007; brothers, Ralph & Clarence Johnson and unfortunately brother Thomas passed away Sunday in Florida due to complications from COVID 19.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 noon in Oakdale Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Winner of the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating, all family and friends are welcome to attend, being aware of social distancing guidelines.  Memorial gifts may be directed to the Jefferson Historical Society, P.
