Kenneth James Rhoads

Kenneth James Rhoads, age 88 of Jefferson Twp., died early Thursday morning at his residence under hospice care.

He was born October 12, 1932 in Ashtabula, the son of Arlington & Elizabeth (McMongle) Rhoads and has been an area resident all of his life.  Jim graduated from Edgewood High School.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving on the USS Saipan during the Korean Conflict.  Jim was married to Ethelyn E. Griffin on June 21, 1958 at the Orwell North Presbyterian Church.

Jim was a self-employed floor mechanic, working more than 50 years.  His interests include building and flying model airplanes, camping, fishing, sewing, building, gambling and traveling, mostly in the United States and Canada.  Jim was an accomplished artist, winning many awards for his paintings.

Survivors include two children, Becky (Tom) Pallutch & Dennis Rhoads, both of Ashtabula and a brother, Alan Rhoads in Virginia.  His parents; his wife, Ethelyn in 2020; a daughter, Linda and a brother, Harry, all preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (6/19/21) at 11:30AM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with the Rev. Michael Greenlief of Edgewood Alliance Church officiating.  Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
