Ethelyn E. “Lynn” Rhoads, age 96 of Jefferson, died Tuesday afternoon at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center where she had been a patient the past week.
She was born February 20, 1924 in Orwell, the daughter of Clarence H. & Elvie (Sweet) Griffin and has been a county resident all of her life. Lynn was married to Kenneth J. “Jim” Rhoads on June 21, 1959 at the Orwell Presbyterian Church. Early in her working career she started at Industrial Rayon in Painesville, then spent several years at Master Numatics in Orwell, then worked at True Temper in Ashtabula.
Lynn was involved while her children were growing up, a 4-H, Girl Scout and Home Room leader. Her interests included many, reading, watching soap operas and old movies on television, traveling, going to the casino, sewing, crafting and was a fan of the Indians and Cavs.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Kenneth “Jim” Rhoads; daughter, Becky L. (Tom) Pallutch & son, Dennis J. Rhoads, both of Ashtabula; a brother, Cloyce (Delores) Griffin of Orwell and a sister-in-law, Lois Griffin of Painesville. Her parents; a daughter, Linda M. Rhoads and four brothers, Elmo, Sewell, Dale & Laurel all preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1:00 PM in Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. Michael Greenleaf of Edgewood Alliance Church officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00AM-12:30PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Social distancing recommendations will be observed with a limited number of persons in the funeral home at one time. Out of respect to others, please wear a mask if attending.
