Betty Jane (Stout) Burlingame

Betty J. Burlingame, age 95, passed away on May 5th with family by her side.  She was born on May 17, 1925 in Lebanon, Pa. to Harry & Pauline Stoudt.

She met her first husband, Pearl Patterson, In Pennsylvania and they moved to Ohio in the early 1950’s. He passed away from a work accident.  They had two children together Michael & Dennis.  She continued raising her boys while working as a waitress at the Jefferson Diner where she met the love of her life, Howard Burlingame.  They were married in 1971.  She gained six wonderful children Phillip, Phyllis, Lois, Bruce, Albert and Ronnie. 

She lived a great life with Howard and was known for making her famous chocolate chip cookies.  She also enjoyed crocheting dollies and afghans.  She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

After Howard passed away, she spent her time at the Jefferson Community Center playing cards, bingo and going on trips.  She loved everything about the senior center and continued going there until around the age of 92.

She attended church at the Eagleville Bible Church where she enjoyed the service and fellowship of friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Pearl, her second husband Howard Burlingame and his sons, Philip, Albert and Ronnie Burlingame.

She is survived by her sons Michael (Jenny) Patterson, Dennis (Barb) Patterson, Bruce Burlingame, two daughters Phyllis & Art Woodworth, and Lois MacArthur, and many Grandchildren, great Grandchildren and great-great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on May 12th at 11:00 A.M. at the Jefferson home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Home with Pastor Bill McMinn officiating.   Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 A.M.  Burial will take place at Rays Corners Cemetery.
