Ann (Stergill) Kapferer

ASHTABULA — Ann Kapferer, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on August 14, 2026, surrounded by the comfort, love, and care of her family.

Born in Newhall, West Virginia, Ann was the daughter of James “John” and Dexter Marie (Adair) Stergill. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959 and married her first true love, Robert G. Kapferer, on April 2, 1960. Together, they were blessed with four children and built a family that remained the great joy and focus of Ann’s life.

Ann’s love for her family was evident in everything she did. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, creating lasting memories through the care, encouragement, and love she generously shared. She especially enjoyed making scrapbooks for her grandchildren, preserving the moments and stories that made their family unique.

A devoted Christian, Ann was a faithful member of Jefferson Nazarene Church. Her faith was a steady source of strength and comfort throughout her life and guided the kindness, compassion, and love she showed to others.

Ann was an avid reader and had a deep passion for genealogy. She delighted in researching her family’s history, tracing the connections between generations, and learning the stories of those who came before her. Genealogy was more than a hobby to Ann; it was a meaningful way for her to honor her heritage and pass the family’s story along to those she loved.

For 30 years, Ann was employed by Ashtabula County Medical Center. She began her career as a switchboard operator and retired from the Central Registration Department. Through her work, she met many wonderful people who became dear friends.

Ann is survived by her loving children, Robert A. (Linda Miller) Kapferer, Scott K. (Lori Brennan) Kapferer, and Shannon M. (Danny) Whitt; her grandchildren, Kelly (David) Kruse, Kurt (Katie) Kapferer, Haley (Morgan) Tegy, Jamie Kapferer, Megan (Tom) Tobias, Blake Kapferer, Samantha Whitt, and Drake Whitt; and her siblings, Carlos (Char) Stergill, Star (Diane) Stergill, Ruth Stergill, Rita Roberts, Daryl Stergill, June Hought, and Jane Stergill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert; her son, Kenny; and her brother, Rick Stergill.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Jefferson Nazarene Church, 55 E. Satin Street, Jefferson, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon, followed by the funeral service at noon. Burial will follow at Lenox Cemetery.
