Alpha June (Williams) Parmley

Alpha J. Parmley, age 93, 52-year resident of Ashtabula and living in Columbus the past 10 months, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at St. Ann’s Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus.

She was born April 5, 1927 in Jefferson, the daughter of Lester R. & Opal (Curtis) Williams.  Alpha was the secretary, bookkeeper and clerk for the Ashtabula City Sanitation Dept. for 23 years, retiring in 1992.  Alpha was responsible for setting up the bookkeeping system for the sanitation department.

She was a member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, actively serving in several lay positions over five decades.  She played in the church softball league and enjoyed writing, reading, crocheting and playing the accordion.

Alpha is survived by a daughter, Rachel E. (Brian) Bell of Columbus; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, Kathie (Tom) Watts of Ashtabula.

Her parents and four brothers, Robert in infancy, Esker, Roy & Ronald Williams preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Pastor Erin Valenti officiating.  Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 11AM-12PM prior to the service at the funeral home.  Social distancing guidelines will be observed, masks are required.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the John Hagee Ministries, P.
