Robert Allen Stitt

Robert A. Stitt, age 73, of Ashtabula,  passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Geneva Village Skilled Nursing Home.  He was born in Ashtabula on May 30, 1944, the son of Warren L. (Bud) and Helen G. (Parks) Stitt.

After graduating from Harbor High School, Bob served in Vietnam for the United States Army as an infantryman. He was a long-standing member of the VFW Post 943. While proud of his service, he rarely spoke of his war time. After retiring from CEI First Energy after more than 20 years, Bob continued to work on the side in roofing and doing odd jobs to keep himself busy. He was known for his sense of humor, generous heart and love for his family.

He is survived by his children, Lisa A. (Greg) Anderson of Kingsville, Jeffery A. Stitt (Christina Stalter)of North Kingsville, Dylan C. (Andrea) Stitt of Ashtabula; sisters, Sue (Richard) Powell, Jan (Gene) VanBuren and brother, Richard Stitt, all of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Colby J. (Sarah) Anderson of Ashtabula, Bailey M. Anderson of Valdosta, GA, Chandler A. Stitt and Connor M. Stitt both of North  Kingsville, Sofia C. Stitt of Ashtabula; great-grandchildren, Mikey and TyTy Anderson of Ashtabula and many loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents,  and former wife Margaret A. Stitt.

A private memorial service will be held at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman with Certified Celebrant Alisa Nierzejewski officiating.  Military Honors will be performed by Geneva Post #6846. Burial will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula Ohio or to Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center/Wade Park Campus, 10701 E. Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.
