Marian J. (Luke) Douglas

Marian J. Douglas, age 98 of Bunker Hill Rd., Ashtabula, died April 27, 2019 at the Geneva Village Retirement Center.  She was born May 14, 1920 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Jesse O.  & Frances E. (Wilder) Luke. Marian wed William F. Douglas, Jan. 13, 1940 and they celebrated 56 years of happiness together before he passed in 1996.

She is survived by her children, Keith (Debbie) Douglas, Jeffrey (Carolyn) Douglas and William (Jeanette) Douglas; her sister, Laura Dougherty; ten grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, William F.; brothers Wendell O. Luke in infancy, Robert G. Luke; sister Marcis E. Vaughn, daughter Priscilla K. Chrisman and granddaughter, Beth A. MacCarthy.

Marian Was a proud and very active member of  Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Golden Circle and spent many hours with the women making rugs to help support the church. She also participated in the women’s association of the church and was a former member of Rebecca I.O.F.

She was a 1938 graduate of Ashtabula High School. Marian and Bill enjoyed attending their class reunions. Marian continued to meet monthly for lunch with her classmates well into her nineties.

Marian worked many years at Carlisle-Allen Department Store. She was a licensed realtor and had worked at the Smith Home for Women.

Most important to Marian were her family and friends, she was never one to say no to any family or holiday activity. She lived every moment of her life to the fullest.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2:00 P. M. at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula with  Alisa Nierzejewski officiating.  Burial will take place in Ridgeview Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the Ashtabula Home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 pm prior to the service.  Memorial  contributions can be made to APL, 5970 Green Rd., Ashtabula Ohio 44004 or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.  The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman funeral Directors and staff are honored to serve the Marian J.
