Margaret J. “Maggie” Hinkle, age 87, former W. Jefferson St. resident in Jefferson, died Wednesday, 3/6/19 in the Hospice Unit at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
She was born September 4, 1931 in Akron, the daughter of Benjamin F. & Jane H. (Burton) Crew and has lived in Jefferson all of her life. Margaret was a secretary for 25 years at the General Electric Plant in Jefferson prior to the plant closing.
She was an active and involved member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and loved her dogs through her life, the last terrier being Misty.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Marsha Hinkle of Jefferson; eight grandchildren, Branden (Tami) Hinkle in Brazil, Stacy (Matt) Alexander of Jefferson, Jennifer (Allan) Alvarado of Odessa, FL, Benny (Olivia) Hinkle of Willoughby, Blake Hinkle of Ashtabula, Colton (Kelly) Hinkle of Ashtabula, Lukas Hinkle of Columbus & Ariel Hinkle of Alliance; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trinity, John, Josephine & Agatha and a sister, Nancy Stevens of Jefferson.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John A. “Andy” Hinkle, III and sons, John A. “Jack” Hinkle, IV and Vance A. Hinkle.
A memorial service will be held Friday, 3/22/19 at 11:00 AM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Pastor Erin Valenti of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene officiating. No visitation will be observed.
