Edna A. Houghton, 73 of Ashtabula died Monday (December 9th) at UH Geneva Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1946 in Ashtabula the daughter of William R. and Lovine L. (Timms) Taggart and has been an area resident most of her life.
She had been a nurse’s aide with Ashtabula Home Health Care and several nursing homes for over 25 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed crocheting, painting, sewing on canvas, collecting angels and Elvis memorabilia, Edna loved watching wrestling especially “The Rock”. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving her are her children James A. Smith, Jr. of Ashtabula, Cheryl A. Maddox of Ashtabula, Yvonne R. Harper of Pierpont, and Mary M. Smith of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and her brothers and sisters, William R. Taggart, Jr. of Ashtabula, Shawn P. (Aimee) Taggart of Wisconsin, Lillian A. Coursen of Ashtabula, Mary Jo (Gary) Gill of Jefferson; and a half brother, Roger Norman of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; her biological father, George H. Norman; her son, Bryon Paris; a grandson, Brandon Edwards; a brother, George “Butch” Taggart; a sister, Dorothy Y. Hendrickson and a half brother, David Norman.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
