Christine J. Lehnert, 58 of Ashtabula Township died Thursday (July 19th) at her home after a long illness. She was born August 4, 1959 in Erie, Pa the daughter of Ralph A. and Janet (Stossmeister) Haskins.
Chris was a graduate of Jefferson High School; she received her Bachelors in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her Master’s degree from Kent State University. She is a teacher in the Buckeye School District where she was the Gifted Intervention Specialist.
Chris loved spending time with family, especially her precious granddaughter Noelle.
She was the ultimate hostess and was always prepared for guests at a moment’s notice. She was the best listener and took special note of family and friends likes and dislikes so she could bring their favorite dish to a party or buy the perfect gift.
Her true passion was teaching. She enjoyed finding creative ways to challenge her students and loved making learning fun for hundreds of students over the years.
She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church.
Surviving her is her husband David Lehnert whom she married December 26, 1981; two daughters, Ashley (Alex) Hoffman of Pepper Pike and Molly (Tyler Lindroth) Lehnert of West Chester, Ohio; her granddaughter, Noelle Hoffman; her brother, Gary Haskins of Grand Canyon, AZ; her sister, Barbara Wagner of Tucson, AZ. and her Mother-in-law, Madge E. Lehnert of Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be Wednesday (July 25th) at 11:00 AM at the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 East Jefferson St. Jefferson with Rev. Douglas Winner and Rev. Ronald Mowry officiating.
Calling hours will be Tuesday (July 24th) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Chris’s name can be made to the fourth, fifth and sixth grade teachers who worked with Chris for supplies for the gifted unit c/o David Lehnert.
