Berel L. Sackett, age 83 of Kingsville, died Monday evening at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
He was born August 2, 1935 in Sheffield Twp., the son of L. B. & Anna (Pettit) Sackett and has been a lifelong Ashtabula Co. resident. He was married to Twilia M. Smith on October 29, 1956 in Winchester, VA.
Mr. Sackett was a 35-year employee of the Ashtabula Co. Highway Dept., retiring in 1992. Following retirement, he was a greeter at Walmart for 13 years. His enjoyments included hunting, fishing, going to auctions and being with family.
Survivors include four children, Darlene A. (David) Hardin of Los Angeles, CA, Robert R. (Beth) Sackett of Dorset Twp., Rita L. (Greg) Wassie of Conneaut & B. Scott (Judy) Sackett of Kingsville Twp.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kristine (Michael) Miller of Dorset Twp. and a brother, David (Karen) Sackett of Sheffield Twp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Twila in 2012; a great-grandson, Haydn Sackett and brothers, Dale & James Sackett.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at Gageville Cemetery, Sheffield Twp. with the Rev. Christine Bell of the First United Methodist Church officiating. No calling hours observed.
