Arden C. Peura, age 86, lifetime Ashtabula resident, died Tuesday afternoon at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
She was born March 24, 1933 in Ashtabula, the daughter of James W. & Ruby E. (Berg) Anderson. Arden was a graduate of Harbor High School and was employed for many years with the Ohio Dept. of Transportation.
She was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and sang with the Women’s Ensemble. For the past several years she has been attending the Austinburg First United Church of Christ where she also sang in the choir. Mrs. Peura was a former member of the Republican Club and past officer of the Republican Women’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, music and was an avid Bridge player, playing with the same group of women more than 50 years.
Survivors include three children, Lynn A. (David) Pontius, Lois A. (Ronald) Fritchen & James M. Peura, all of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Adam R. (Nicole) Pontius, Caitlyn S. Andrulis, Gregory A. Fritchen & Meadow R. Pontius and three great-grandchildren, Luke & Mila Pontius and Michael Andrulis. Her parents and a sister, Barbara Wyman preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula with Rev. William Terry of the Austinburg First United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
