Alan L. Headman, age 82, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday afternoon, March 13, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
He was born May 26, 1936, in Ashtabula, the son of Charles J. & Ruth M. (Olsenick) Headman and has resided here all of his life. Alan was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in Germany from 1955-1957. He married Pauline L. Albert on August 27, 1960, at the Andover Congregational Church. Alan was a mechanic for 35 years at Headman’s Gulf, retiring in 2001. Following retirement, he was a driver for Federated Auto Parts.
He was a member of Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church, now Trinity Presbyterian Church, lifetime member of the BPOE #208 in Ashtabula and the Ashtabula Pigeon Racing Club. Alan enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing and vacationing in Canada, his Army reunions and mall walking.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Ashtabula; four children, Cathy S. (Scott) McEvoy of Strongsville, Douglas A. (Mary Beth) Headman of Sylvania, Beth A. Desai of Belle Mead, NJ & Karen M. (Rick) Arthur of Coleman, MI; 13 grandchildren, Katie, Matthew, Julie, Scotty, Patrick, Libby, Andrew, Nik, Logan, Lukas, Carlee, Myles & Jayden; one great-grandchild, Oliver and many nieces and nephews.
His parents; brothers, Glen & Robert Headman, and infant brothers, Paul & Milton, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula with the Rev. Mark Mong officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery with American Legion Post #103 rendering military honors.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3-6 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula.
