Marlene J. Ward, age 83, S. Elm St., Jefferson, died Thursday morning at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.

She was born November 11, 1932 in Jackson, MI, the daughter of Carl J. & Florence V. (Randall) Wormley and has resided in Jefferson since 1963.  She was a graduate of Jackson High School.  Marlene was married to Kenneth T. Ward, Jr. on November 25, 1950 in Jackson, MI.  Marlene was a homemaker and cared for children in her home for more than 35 years.

She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church where she was a 33 year member of the choir and started and directed the children’s choir.  She also served on the administrative board.  She was active with the Rainbow Girls and a member of the Fire Jets.  Marlene was a devoted mother.

Survivors include seven children, William C. (Frank) Ward of Columbus, Robin S. (Jack) Kleven of Lexington, KY, Timothy S. (Darlene) Ward of Jefferson, Jeffrey A. Ward of Ashtabula, Edwin J. (Zach) Ward of North Royalton, Robert L. (Tracey) Ward of New Philadelphia & Kimberly S. (Sarah) Ward of North Ridgeville, 11 grandchildren, Amanda, Linda, Josh, Caley, Christian, Chelsea, Justin, Emma, Benjamin, Owen & Corie, a great-grandson, Nolan and two close dear friends, Jude Rice of Lansing, MI & Beverly Berrier of Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ken in 2006 and a sister, Carla McMunn.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 A. M. at the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Dan Bilkert officiating.  Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 12-3 P. M. at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson and Monday from 10-11 A.
