Lucille B. Stanton, 93 of Sheffield Twp. died Sunday at her home. She was born February 24, 1924 in Gageville  the daughter of Herbert and Edith (Chapman) Bancroft and has been a lifetime area resident.

She was a 1942 graduate of Kingsville High School and married Howard Stanton on Oct. 21, 1944. She had been employed at Richardson Shoe Store and J.C. Penney’s in Ashtabula.

She was a long time member of Gageville United Methodist Church; the Sunshine Club in Kingsville and the Conneaut Quilting Club. She enjoyed and taught cake decorating she also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She loved   bird watching and all animals especially her dogs, “Little One” and “Little Two”.

Surviving her is her husband,  six children, Herbert (Skitch) Stanton of Grandview WA, Connie (Robert) Hawke of Kingsville, Edith (Curtis) Bish of Conneaut, Gerry (Joseph) Schreiber of Kingsville, Susan (Linn) Graber of Lebanon, Oregon and Mary Jane (Frank) Frye of Ashtabula; eleven grandchildren, Melissa, Timothy, Kevin, Katie, Christina, Noah, Melanie, Abbey, Chelsea, Kara and Risa; ten great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Stacey Hawke; three brothers, Merle, Louis and Lyle Bancroft and two sisters, Nora Campbell and Eileen Schmelzer.

Funeral service will be Saturday (July 22nd) at 11:00 AM at the Gageville United Methodist Church, 4063 St. RT 193, Kingsville, Ohio with Pastor Terry Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery in Sheffield Twp.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula.
