Lester Clyde Frisbie

June 6, 1923 ~ September 28, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old


Lester C. Frisbie, age 94, Commerce Pl., Geneva and longtime Ashtabula Harbor resident, died Thursday afternoon in the hospice unit at Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.

He was born June 6, 1923 in Jefferson, the son of Clyde A. & Lulu (McIntyre) Frisbie.  The family lived in Pennsylvania and when Les was the age of two his father died and at age of 12 his mother died, he then came to Ashtabula to be raised by his aunt and uncle, Lela & Charles Whyte.  Les was a veteran of the   U. S. Army Air Corp in World War II, he received the Air Metal with three Oak Clusters and while in the European Threatre he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and two Battle Stars.  Following the war, Les married Wanda L. Johnson on May 4, 1946 in Ashtabula.

Les retired in 1982 from Reliance Electric after 35 years of service, following retirement he was building manager at Human Services at the Donahoe Center.  He then was a driver with the Childs, Marcy & Fleming Funeral Home and the Family Care Group Funeral Homes from 1994-2008.

Les was an involved member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, formerly Prospect Presbyterian, where he served as an Elder, a member of the Rising Son Lodge #22 F. & A. M., Lake Erie Consistory 32nd degree Mason, Grotto, El Kadir and supported the Air Force Museum Foundation.

Lester was an avid reader and lifelong learner.  He was still enjoying a history book during his last days.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He and Wanda attended most of their grandchildren's school and sports activities.

He is survived by two children, Kenneth L. (Patricia) Frisbie & Kathleen E. (David) Peterson, both of Ashtabula, five grandchildren, Jason (Heidi) Frisbie, Chris (Melissa) Peterson, Adam Peterson, Matthew Peterson & Emily (Andy) Selfe and eight great-grandchildren, Liam, Madeline, Kamryn, Jordyn, Grayson, Hannah, Layla & Alexandra.  His parents and wife, Wanda on 9/13/15 preceded him in death.     

Services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula with the Rev. Mark Mong officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 A. M. prior to the service.  Rising Sun Lodge #22 F. & A. M. will offer masonic services at 11:00 A. M. prior to the Memorial Service.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Trinity Presbyterian Church (above address) or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH  44004.
