John W. Novak, age 88, of Tote Rd., Rock Creek, died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield Hts.  He was born May 5, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of John & Ann (Kapilla) Novak.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He attended New Lyme Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir. He enjoyed horseback riding, gardening in his earlier years and spending time with his family at family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Joan M. (Austin) Novak of Rock Creek; children, Lee A. (Brenda) Novak of Rock Creek, Kathryn A. (Tim) Camp of Jefferson, Charles D. (Carin) Novak of Rio Nedo CA and David J. (Dianne) Novak of Lansing, MI; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anna Mae Shaw.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:00 A. M. at the New Lyme Baptist Church, 1280 Dodgeville Rd., New Lyme, Ohio, 44085, with Pastor Paul Woods officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made to the New Lyme Baptist Church at the address listed above.  The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio are honored to serve the John W.
