James Pinney, age 76, St. Rt. 46 South, New Lyme Twp., died Sunday morning at his residence.

He was born March 11, 1940 in Colebrook Twp., the son of Harry & Margie (Easton) Pinney and has lived in this area all of his life.  He was married to Nancy E. Halleen on December 12, 1959 at the Prospect Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula.  Mr. Pinney retired in 2001 from Mayfran Co. in Mayfield Hts., he also worked many years for Easton Brothers in Colebrook Twp.

Mr. Pinney attended the Bethel Bible Church where he taught the Awana class.  He later became a member of the Eagleville Bible Church, he was active with the Gideon’s and he coached little league and helped with 4-H when his children were young.  He always had an interest in race cars, horses, motorcycles and golf.  He was always working in the woods and had a “special” project going on. His greatest love was his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, his step-father, Howard Rex of New Lyme Twp., five children, James S. (Jennifer) Pinney of Scranton, PA, Nick L. (Carol) Pinney of New Lyme Twp., Deborah K. Platt of Rock Creek, Jeff A. (Becky) Pinney of Columbus & Jill E. (Nathan) Eikhoff of Sagamore Hills, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three siblings, Carol (Owen) Porter of Harpersfield Twp., Gladys Pinney of Cambridge & Mark (Kathy) Rex of Ashtabula.  His father Harry and mother, Margie Rex preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 6:00 P. M. at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Pastor Greg Gifford officiating.  Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-6 P.
