Harry A. Smith, Jr, 69 of Cliff Dr., Saybrook Township died Wednesday (September 7th) unexpectly at his home.  He was born February 20, 1947 in Warren, Ohio the son of Dr. Harry and Florence (Little) Smith, Sr.

 He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was employed for 31 years the General Motors Plant in Lordstown as a foreman and a committeeman for the United Auto Workers retiring in 2008.

He was a member of the Deep Creek Elks in Punta Gorda, Florida; the Moose Lodge in Port Charlotte, Florida; the American Legion-Dewey Howlett Post 103 of Ashtabula and was an active member of the Veterans Committee at the Ashtabula Elks Lodge #208 in Ashtabula.

Surviving him is his Fiancé’ , Sandy Klaesges of Saybrook Twp.; two children, Greg Smith of Youngstown and Stefani Smith-Kelly of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Abby Kelly and Sam Kelly; three sisters, Emily Smith of Saybrook Twp., Salli (Barry) Bevan of Vienna, Ohio and Darla McGarry of Youngstown and two brothers,  Bing (Paula) Smith of Arizona and Michael (Betty) Smith of Rochester, New York and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Paula Kane of Poland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Erica (Centofante) Smith in 2007 and a half-sister, Joann Sammett.

A celebration of Harry’s life will be Saturday (Sept. 24th) from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the American Legion-Dewey Howlett Post 103, 1804 West 19th St. Ashtabula, Ohio with the American Legion Honor Guard conducting Military rites at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans Committee at the Ashtabula Elks #208, 3115 Lake Rd, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
