Gordon Lee Ball

Gordon Ball, age 79, Linda Ln., Jefferson, died Thursday evening at Integres Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK.

 

He was born November 18, 1937 in Flemington, WV, the son of Harold R. & Alice (Bland) Ball.  Gordon grew up in Northeast Ohio.  He then went on to serve the U. S. Air Force from 1955-1975.  Gordon was married to Dale S. Moser on August 27, 1958 in Reno, NV.  He received his bachelor’s degree from New York University in Plattsburg.  Gordon worked for the Lake Co. Dept. of Human Services, Noble Oil and the Orwell Post Office. 

 

In 1995, he and Dale relocated to Newport News, VA to assist with Brian Ball Ministries.  In 2000 they then relocated to Anadarko, OK to help establish Oakridge Ministries, returning to Jefferson in 2013.  Gordon was a man of genuine faith who lived by his life verse, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

 

Gordon was a member of the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church where he previously served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and was coordinator of the Pioneer Club.  He was also a trustee for Oakridge Ministries and a member of the U. S. Air Force Sergeants Association.

 

Survivor include three children, Bruce R. Ball of Jefferson, the Rev. Brian D. (Beth) Ball of Anadarko, OK & Vicki L. (Mark) Miller of Lynchburg, VA, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters, Delores Brainard Moore of Jefferson, Mary (Lee) Daubenspeck of Jefferson, Joyce Walters of Middlefield, one brother, Fred Burtt of Williamsfield Twp. and a sister-in-law, Gayle Ball of Geneva.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dale on March 21, 2017, his parents, his step-father, Walter Burtt,  a sister, Ellen Bullis and three brothers, Harold Ray Burtt, William Ball & William Burtt.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 A. M. at the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Rd., Jefferson with the Rev. Brian Ball and Pastor Rick Havens officiating.  Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.  Geneva VFW Post #6846 will offer full military honors.

 

Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-7 P. M. at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W.
