Dorothy I. Abbott, age 81, S. Poplar St., Jefferson, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon at her residence.

She was born April 4, 1935 in Dayton, the daughter of Earl P. & Alice (DeHaven) Dearing and has been a resident of this area most of her life.  When her eye sight was better she enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.  She was a demolition derby fan and when in her 40’s won the demolition derby at the county fair.

Survivors include a daughter, Tina R. Grose of Ashtabula and a brother, Norrell (Barbara) Dearing of Austinburg Twp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Abbott, a son, Jeffrey Abbott in March, a grandson, Kevin Beebe in 2011 and two sisters, Wanda Abbott & Nadene Hounshell.

Private services will be held Tuesday at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.  Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, to Tina Grose, in c/o Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, P. O.
