Betty L. Harnist, 85 of Ashtabula died Friday (Jan. 13th) at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.  She was born July 10, 1931 in Ashtabula the daughter of Archie and Daisy (Johnson) Adams.

She married Clarence L. Harnist on October 28, 1950 at the First Christian Church in Ashtabula. She was an active member of the East Plymouth Grange. She enjoyed ceramics and playing the organ. She and her husband loved living in Florida during their retirement years.

Surviving her are two sons, Terry L. (Jean) Harnist of Andover and Gary Harnist of Ashtabula; a brother, Archie Adams of Ashtabula and a granddaughter, Janette (Daniel) Decker of Pierpont. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2013 and by two sisters, Beverly Adams in 1944 and Myrtle Riedel in 1989.

Funeral services will be Thursday (Jan. 19th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Alisa Nierzejewski, Certified Celebrant officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.

Calling hours will be Wednesday (Jan. 18th) from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula.
